Screw presses for hot and cold forming of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
The screw press series is the result of experience gained in forging, resulting in a precise choice of materials used to guarantee absolute working precision combined with maximum robustness.
With this new series, Praber Group aims to complete its range of presses with very high technological content, as the concept of durability, repeatability, and flexibility is increasingly successful in all production areas.
The use of Praber “SP” screw presses for all those orders that require speed and precision in execution represents the best choice.
“SP” screw presses are ideal for the hot forging of complex parts or those requiring a series of forging steps.

SP Series
Suitable for forging:

The SP series of screw presses is a line of machines manufactured with a closed-ring structure reinforced by 2 hot-preloaded tie rods with nuts.
The material used for casting is spheroidal graphite cast iron, which has very high-level mechanical characteristics and is suitable for forging machines due to its ability to absorb shocks during the working phase.
This type of machine is particularly suitable for the hot and cold forming of non-ferrous materials.

SD Series
Suitable for forging:

The SD series of screw presses is a line of machines manufactured with a closed-ring electro-welded steel structure.
The raw sheets used to manufacture the frames are meticulously ultrasound-tested and must comply with EN 10160 acceptance classes. The entire structure, once the welding cycle is complete, undergoes a final controlled stress-relieving heat treatment.
At the end of the heat treatment, the entire structure is subjected to sandblasting or shot peening in order to eliminate (slag, rust, etc.) and to obtain the degree of cleanliness required for the type of paint used.
This type of machine is particularly suitable for the hot forging of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. They are commonly used for brass forging in the fashion sector to obtain parts with very fine thicknesses and very tight tolerances.
SD screw presses are distinguished by their superior precision, reduced energy consumption, and lower maintenance requirements. This technological improvement has been made possible by replacing the traditional flywheel drive with a torque motor directly coupled to the leadscrew. This innovation not only makes the machines more reliable but also increases their operational efficiency and longevity.
